This is the first day of the “Wild Animals” themed week for children aged 1 to 2 years.
At the age of 1 to 2 years, the child is actively interested in animals and no less actively repeats the sounds they make. To diversify your child’s horizons and expand their vocabulary, I offer several examples for games.
So, the theme for the first day will be a hedgehog.
What can you come up with on the theme of a hedgehog? It seems like just gluing/making thorns, but I will offer you some examples of interesting and simple games on this topic.
Place a card with an image of an animal in a small box/jar or casket. Invite your child to find out who sent him his “photo”. Of course, this is a hedgehog. Look at the picture/figurine of an animal, repeat the parts of the body (don’t forget about the adjectives). The main difference between a hedgehog and other animals is the presence of needles. Tell him why he needs them.
Play the game “Hide the Hedgehogs” . The essence of the game is to hide the hedgehogs from the sly fox behind the leaves.
Make a cardboard hedgehog in advance, make its needles from toothpicks or matches. Invite your child to make “apples” from plasticine and pin them on the hedgehog’s needles.
For painted hedgehogs, you can also collect apples in an unusual way. To play you will need a magnet (you can use one from the refrigerator) and a few coins (10 kopecks). We tie the magnet on a small string to a stick/pencil, and glue circles of colored paper onto the coins (these will be our apples). Also for the game you will need a tree outline.
Tell your child that the apples grow on a tall apple tree and the hedgehog cannot reach them, so you need to help him.
You can also make an applique. The baby’s task is to glue strips of colored paper that act as needles. If your child doesn’t yet know how to handle glue, double-sided tape will help you. This applique technique is so simple that it will suit even the little ones.
You can finish the lesson by watching the cartoons “The Hedgehog Prepares Stocks” and “The Girl and the Hedgehog”, and also listen to the song “The Rubber Hedgehog”.
